AK Teaching is seeking a dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistant for one of our partner provisions in Northumberland.

Role Overview:

As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will work with students of varying ages and across multiple key stages.

Your role will involve assisting individuals with SEND, helping them to access the curriculum, and supporting their development both academically and socially.

You’ll play a crucial part in creating a nurturing, inclusive environment where every student has the opportunity to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting students with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Assisting teachers in delivering tailored lessons and learning activities.
  • Providing 1:1 and group support, adapting to the individual needs of each student.
  • Helping to manage challenging behaviour in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience: Previous experience working with SEND students is essential.
  • Flexibility: Must be comfortable working with a wide age range across multiple key stages.
  • Qualifications: A qualification in Childcare, Supporting Teaching and Learning, or similar is highly desirable.
  • Enhanced DBS: An enhanced DBS on the update service is required, or applicants must be willing to apply for one through AK Teaching.
