Primary SEND Teaching Assistant

About the Role: AK Teaching is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to join our team and work in a special needs provision based in Amble. This rewarding role involves supporting learners from Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) to Key Stage 2 (KS2).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
  • Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Support classroom teachers in creating an inclusive learning environment
  • Work closely with other professionals, including speech therapists and occupational therapists
  • Foster a safe, positive, and engaging learning atmosphere

Requirements:

  • Prior experience working with SEND learners is essential
  • Previous experience in a school or nursery setting
  • A qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or Childcare is highly desirable
  • Hold an enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for one through AK Teaching
