Special Needs Teaching Assistant

AK Teaching, a leading education recruitment agency, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Needs Learning Support Assistant to join a reputable SEND school in North Tyneside.

This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of students with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and group support to students with special educational needs.
  • Assist in the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour plans.
  • Support the class teacher in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Foster a nurturing and supportive atmosphere to enhance the overall well-being of students.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with special educational needs, preferably in a school setting.
  • Hold a level 2/3 supporting teaching and learning qualification (preferred).
  • Comfortable working with students of various ages.
  • Possess an enhanced DBS check on the update service or be willing to apply for one through AK Teaching.

Skills and Qualities:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience and empathy when working with students with diverse needs.
  • Ability to adapt to different learning styles and provide tailored support.
  • Team player with a collaborative approach to working within a school environment.
