AK Teaching are actively recruiting an experienced Teaching Assistant to work in one of our partnership schools in Wallsend and work within their KS2 provision. The purpose of this role is to provide full classroom support as well as leading group interventions and working alongside learners on a 1:1 basis. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with Primary aged learners (preferably KS2) and will be comfortable working individually or as part of a group.
Roles and Responsibilities
To work with the teacher to establish an appropriate learning environment.
To Implement agreed learning activities/teaching programmes; adjusting activities according to pupils’ responses/needs; with groups of children for agreed periods of time, both in and outside the classroom.
To support the use of ICT in learning activities and develop pupils’ competence and independence in Its use.
To monitor and evaluate pupils’ responses to learning activities through observation.
To provide feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement.
To provide objective and accurate feedback as required, to the teacher on pupil achievement, progress and other matters.
To be responsible for keeping and updating records as agreed with the teacher, contributing to the review of systems/records as requested.
To undertake marking of pupils’ work as directed by class teacher.
On occasion to deliver literacy and numeracy intervention programmes and make effective use of opportunities provided by other learning activities to support the development of literacy and numeracy skills.
To promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils within the classroom.
To support pupils consistently whilst recognising and responding to their Individual needs.
To encourage pupils to interact and work co-operatively with others and engage all pupils in activities.
To promote independence and employ strategies to recognise and reward achievement and self reliance.
To establish productive working relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations. To promote positive values, attitudes and good pupil behaviour, dealing promptly with conflicts and incidents in line with established policy and encourage pupils take for their own behaviour.
To liaise sensitively and effectively with parents/carers, as agreed with the teacher, within your role/responsibility and participate in feedback sessions/meetings with parents as directed.
To supervise pupils on visits and trips as required.
To support playground/break time/lunches and lunch playtime supervision (within employed hours).
To provide general clerical/administrative support.
To prepare work and activities in advance of the lesson as directed by the teacher.
To provide cover for whole classes as appropriate, eg. swimming sessions/brief periods of teacher absence.
Administer first aid in line with First Aid Policy.
To attend and participate in regular meetings as appropriate.
To participate in training and other learning activities offered by the school to further knowledge (within employed hours).
To know and apply school policies on Child Protection, Health and Safety, Behaviour, Teaching and learning, Equal Opportunities, Confidentiality and Data Protection etc. reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
Candidate Requirements

SATS preparation experience.
Good literacy and numeracy skills.
Ability to manage groups of pupils and deal with challenging behaviour.
Patience and a sense of humour.
A Valid Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification.
Experience working in schools or educational settings.
An ability to work confidently with children, with a professional approach.
A valid DBS (Can apply if needed).
Eligibility to work in the UK (Two references, including your current or most recent employer).
