AK Teaching are looking for a behavior support assistant, to join one of our well-established partnered schools in the WF17 area in Wakefield.

Job Role

You will be working full time Monday – Friday between the hours of 8:30am-4:00pm, no working weekends or school holidays! This role will involve working with vulnerable children and adults with special educational needs including AD, ADHD, SEMH and more. The ideal candidate would be both determined to help pupils develop and achieve the best of their ability, while supporting their learning and behavioural needs.

As a behaviour support worker, you will need to be calm, patient and prepared with a variety of techniques to manage challenging behaviours. You will build relationships and assist the development of pupils that require extra support with their behaviour and learning. Your support may be needed to assist young people on a 1 to 1 basis or as a group.

The age range can vary from 2-19 so being flexible with a range of ages is beneficial. Through education, we enable young people to gain the skills and resilience they need to succeed in life beyond school, inspiring the brightest future.

To be successful in this role you will need

-Experience to suite different types of students and learning. Or a passion to help students that need extra assistance, have access to a suitable education.

-Ability to differentiate different learning needs.

-Positive consistent and proactive approach behaviour management skills.

-An overall positive attitude, enthusiasm, energy, and a nurturing nature.

-Good verbal communication.

-Ideally you will have a DBS on the update service, or one issued within the last year. If your DBS is not on the update service, you will need to get a new one. We will assist you to get a new DBS if necessary.
