Position: Teaching Assistant
Location: Sheffield
Start Date: September 2024, registrations accepted immediately
Working Hours: Between 8:15 AM – 3:45 PM, Monday to Friday

Role Overview:

As a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with our teaching staff to support the learning and development of students with SEN. You will play a key role in helping students access the curriculum, promoting their social and emotional well-being, and ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Support learners in their daily activities, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment.
  • Support students with personal care and mobility needs as required, including but not limited to feeding and administering medication,
  • Collaborate with the teaching team to implement individualised education and care plans.
  • Foster positive relationships with learners, promoting their independence and well-being.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and incidents.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other staff to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Help prepare and maintain classroom materials and resources.
  • Monitor and record students’ progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents.

Requirements:

  • A Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential.
  • Previous experience working with children, particularly those with SEN, is highly beneficial.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with special educational
  • Proficient in providing personal care and support to individuals with complex needs.
  • Availability to work between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm on a supply basis.
  • Possession of an up-to-date and enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check – we can apply for one on your behalf

Qualities:

  • Empathetic and patient with a genuine passion for working with individuals with special educational needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and handle challenging situations with composure.
