We are currently seeking dedicated and resilient Behaviour Support Assistants to work in a Special Educational Needs and Mental Health (SEMH) provision in Gateshead. If you are passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of students and can handle challenging behaviours, we want to hear from you.

Position Overview: As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing support and guidance to pupils who can display challenging behaviours. Your dedication and resilience will help create a safe and nurturing learning environment where students can thrive and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with students who require additional behavioural support.
  • Provide one-on-one or group support to address specific behavioural needs.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Implement strategies to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualized behaviour plans.
  • Monitor and record student progress and behaviour data.

Requirements:

  • Resilience and the ability to work under pressure.
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service is required, or applicants must be willing to apply for one.
  • Previous experience working with students displaying challenging behaviours is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A genuine passion for supporting students with SEMH needs.
