School Based Behaviour Support Assistant

About the Role:

AK Teaching is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Support Assistant to join a dynamic team in a SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) provision based in Blyth.

This rewarding role involves supporting secondary-aged pupils with a range of SEN, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and challenging behaviours.

As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment. You will work closely with teachers and other support staff to implement tailored strategies that meet the individual needs of each student, helping them to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and group support to secondary-aged pupils with SEN.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of personalised learning plans.
  • Support students in managing challenging behaviours and promoting positive behaviour.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to ensure a cohesive approach to student development.
  • Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, offering feedback to teachers and parents where necessary.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Prior experience in a similar role supporting students with SEN, particularly those with ASD, ADHD, and challenging behaviours, is highly beneficial.
  • Qualifications: A Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification or similar is desirable.
  • DBS Check: An Enhanced DBS on the update service is required. If you do not currently hold this, you must be willing to apply for one through AK Teaching.
