AK Teaching have an amazing opportunity, for a qualified teacher with SEMH experience to join one of our partnered schools, in the WF4 Wakefield area.

The ideal candidate will need to:

  • Be an outstanding practitioner in relation to teaching of students with social, emotional and mental health needs
  • Have the knowledge and experience of behaviour management and restorative strategies
  • Have the ability to deal effectively with students presenting challenging behaviour using de-escalation techniques as appropriate
  • Have experience working with students that have additional needs
  • Teach lessons, ensuring the highest standards of teaching, and learning within the SEMH school setting.
  • Experience working with students with additional needs.
  • A passion for working with young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
  • Use creative approaches within curriculum development, to meet the needs of young people.
  • An overall positive attitude, enthusiasm, energy, nurturing nature and good verbal and written communication.
  • Be able to use a range of strategies like giving praise and positive reinforcements.
  • Positive consistent and proactive approach to behaviour management.
  • Ability to differentiate lessons and support to learning.
  • Being flexible with different ages will be helpful.
  • You will be working full time, Monday – Friday between the hours of 9:00am-4:00pm.
  • Ideally you will have a DBS on the update service, or one issued within the last year. If your DBS is not on the update service, you will need to get a new one. We will assist you to get a new DBS if necessary.

As these roles will involve working with children and young adults with special educational needs including, ASD, ADHD, SEMH and more. The ideal candidate will be both resilient and determined to help these pupils develop and achieve to the best of their ability.
