We are currently seeking dedicated and resilient Behaviour Support Assistants to work in a Special Educational Needs and Mental Health (SEMH) provision in Gateshead. Position Overview: As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing support and guidance to pupils who can display challenging behaviours. Your dedication and resilience will help create a safe and nurturing learning environment where students can thrive and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
Work closely with students who require additional behavioural support.
Provide one-on-one or group support to address specific behavioural needs.
Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
Implement strategies to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours.
Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualized behaviour plans.
Monitor and record student progress and behaviour data.
Requirements:
Resilience and the ability to work under pressure.
An enhanced DBS on the update service is required, or applicants must be willing to apply for one.
Previous experience working with students displaying challenging behaviours is a plus.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
A genuine passion for supporting students with SEMH needs.
