You’ll work in SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) schools, where pupils may display challenging behaviors, helping them overcome obstacles and reach their full potential.

Job Description:

As an Unqualified Behaviour Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment for students facing emotional and behavioral challenges. You will work closely with experienced teaching and support staff to provide students with the guidance, encouragement, and support they need to thrive. This role is an excellent opportunity for those interested in pursuing a career in education or gaining valuable experience in the field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing challenging behaviors and promoting positive interactions among students.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, helping them with academic and emotional needs.
  • Foster a safe and supportive classroom environment that encourages learning and growth.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to implement behavior intervention plans.
  • Support students with their daily routines, including classwork, lunch, and recreational activities.

Qualifications:

No formal qualifications are required, but candidates must possess:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Empathy and patience in working with students facing behavioral challenges.
  • Resilience and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
  • A willingness to learn and adapt to the unique needs of each student.

Requirements:

  • A valid DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check on the update service, or the willingness to apply and pay for one. (We can provide guidance on this process).
  • A genuine passion for supporting the education and well-being of students with SEMH needs.
