We are currently seeking a highly motivated and adaptable Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our supply team, providing essential support to a SEN (Special Educational Needs) school in Northumberland. This school serves learners aged 2-19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, SEMH and other complex needs.

Job Description:

As a Supply HLTA, you will play a pivotal role in supporting students across all age groups, from 2 to 19 years old, who require specialised assistance. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks aimed at creating an inclusive and nurturing learning environment where every student can thrive. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of learners with diverse and complex needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering engaging and differentiated lessons.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with ASD, Severe Learning Difficulties, and other complex needs.
  • Collaborate with the teaching team to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and development.
  • Support students in their social and emotional development.
  • Help assess and monitor student progress, offering constructive feedback and guidance.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience working with students with special educational needs, particularly ASD and ADHD, is highly advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting students with complex needs.
  • Flexibility to work between 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday.
