AK Teaching Recruitment Agency is a leading provider of educational staff solutions, dedicated to enriching the learning experiences of students. We are currently seeking a highly motivated and adaptable Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our supply team, providing essential support to a SEN (Special Educational Needs) school in Northumberland. This school serves learners aged 2-19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, SEMH and other complex needs.
As a Supply HLTA, you will play a pivotal role in supporting students across all age groups, from 2 to 19 years old, who require specialised assistance. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks aimed at creating an inclusive and nurturing learning environment where every student can thrive. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of learners with diverse and complex needs.
Assist teachers in planning and delivering engaging and differentiated lessons.
Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with ASD, Severe Learning Difficulties, and other complex needs.
Collaborate with the teaching team to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and development.
Support students in their social and emotional development.
Help assess and monitor student progress, offering constructive feedback and guidance.
Qualifications and Requirements:
HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.
Previous experience working with students with special educational needs, particularly ASD and ADHD, is highly advantageous.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting students with complex needs.
Flexibility to work between 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday.
