We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and committed English Teacher to join our supply team, providing essential support to a SEN (Special Educational Needs) school in North Tyneside. This school caters to learners aged 11-19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Job Description:

As a Supply English Teacher at our SEN school, you will have the unique opportunity to work with learners who require specialised support and guidance. Your role will be crucial in fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment, where students can develop their English skills and reach their full potential. Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons to meet the diverse needs of students with ASD, ADHD, and SEMH.
  • Create a safe and supportive classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation and self-expression.
  • Develop and implement individualised education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the SEN team.
  • Assess and track student progress, providing feedback and support where needed.
  • Work closely with teaching assistants and support staff to ensure a cohesive and effective learning environment.
  • Foster a love of English language and literature among students.
  • Promote social and emotional development through English education.

Qualifications and Requirements:

    • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
    • Experience teaching English to learners with special educational needs is preferred but not mandatory.
    • Understanding of the unique challenges and needs of students with ASD, ADHD, and SEMH.
    • Strong communication and classroom management skills.
    • Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for teaching and supporting SEN students.
    • Flexibility to work between 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday.
