Position Details:

• Position: 1:1 Learning Support Assistant (Supply)
• Location: Benwell, Newcastle upon Tyne
• School: Special Educational Needs (SEN) School
• Student Age Group: Post-16 learner
• Additional Needs: Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH)
• Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM
• Experience: Background in sports, ex-military, or forces preferred but not essential.

Job Description:

As a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant working on supply for AK Teaching, you will be responsible for providing dedicated support to a post-16 learner with SEMH needs. Your role is pivotal in creating a safe and supportive learning environment and assisting the student in overcoming challenges they may face. The ideal candidate should be patient, adaptable, and capable of handling potential challenging behaviours.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work closely with the student, offering one-on-one support and guidance.
• Assist in the development and implementation of individualised strategies to support the learner’s needs.
• Foster a positive and inclusive environment for the student’s personal and academic growth.
• Maintain a calm and patient demeanour, even in challenging situations.
• Collaborate with school staff, parents, and external professionals to ensure the student’s well-being and progress.

Qualifications:

• Experience working with individuals with SEMH needs is highly desirable.
• A patient and empathetic approach to working with young people.
• Adaptability and resilience when faced with challenging behaviours.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
